Located on a hilltop at the end of a long drive, this home with views of three towns lacked a place of arrival worthy of its setting. Burck Ryan Associates organized the scene by creating an enlarged courtyard that relates all the surrounding structures. A pear tree bosque in its center lends a meditative air to the space, while a limited plant palette reinforces the edges and adds to the stateliness. Timeless materials such as granite posts, cobbles and gravel enhance and underscore the elegance of the space.
